Two years ago, with the support of Orbea, we were able to restore the historic Peladet Trail: a spectacular 4-kilometre descent from the Montsec de Rúbies mountain range, featuring nearly 1,400 metres of vertical drop. This project added more than 35 kilometres of new riding opportunities to Territori Lo Podall and opened the door for riders to explore one of the wildest and most breathtaking areas of Pallars Jussà.
The initiative also made it possible to renovate the wooden boardwalks on the Sílex Trail and represented a major step forward in the visitor experience through the creation of new maps, trail guides and website improvements, making it easier to discover and understand everything the region has to offer.
In 2026, the Orbea Foundation was launched, driven by the belief that bicycles can be a powerful force for positive change. The foundation supports projects related to sustainable mobility, social justice, wellbeing, the preservation of cultural and natural heritage, social economy initiatives and research connected to the cycling world. It is a vision of cycling that deeply resonates with us.
At Territori Lo Podall, we share this same vision: cycling is about much more than sport. It is a tool for bringing forgotten paths back to life, connecting villages and helping people discover the Pallars Jussà while respecting the natural environment, while also generating economic activity that benefits local businesses and services.
However, for this model to be truly sustainable, one condition is essential: he trails need to be actively maintained, kept safe and preserved for the future, and it is precisely at this point that Orbea Foundation’s new philosophy fully aligns with the way we understand Territori Lo Podall.
With its new structure, Orbea Foundation aims to promote a model based on long-term partnerships focused on trail maintenance. The goal is no longer to provide one-off sponsorship for a specific project or improvement works, but to strengthen the capacity of local organisations so that their impact can last, ensuring that existing trails remain in the best possible condition and continue to create value for the territory. This approach closely matches our vision of a sustainable development model, where partner businesses and companies connected to cycling have a key role to play if we are to move from a volunteer-based model towards a more professional structure.
We would like to thank Orbea Foundation for trusting Territori Lo Podall and for making us part of this initiative. Thanks to their support, this spring we have carried out maintenance work on more than 10 kilometres of trails across our network, including Moretó, Barranc dels Lleons and Sílex. These works help preserve the trails and improve the riding experience for everyone who uses them.
Actions like these help us continue building a project in which cycling is not an end in itself, but a tool to preserve the territory, strengthen the community and create opportunities for the people who live here.
